First-generation high school & college graduate founder raising up to $1,000,000 for accessible STEM education

Buffalo, NY – Thimble.io Inc. has launched a crowdinvesting campaign with Republic. Thimble provides innovative, hands-on STEM kits in combination with live & on-demand classes for at-risk youth, girls, and underrepresented student demographics in STEM.

Launched as part of the most successful Kickstarter in Buffalo, NY in 2015, Thimble has reached 20,000 students and 500 teachers in both public/charter schools and homeschools. Thimble has been featured in Fast Company, TechCrunch, Vice, and Forbes. The startup has already accrued $1.2 million in revenue and is growing rapidly.

Industry praise:

“The experts agree that the future of EdTech is a hybrid model. Learning will happen in classrooms, libraries, camps, after-school clubs, and at kitchen tables. That requires a solution that is part platform, part real-world problem solving, and completely grounded in STEM. Thimble.io is lightyears ahead as the go-to resource for schools, non-profits, businesses, and families committed to a brighter future. Thimble is THE EdTech startup to watch, and I expect great things as they continue to grow.” – Dan Tyre, Top Tech Executive & Experienced Angel Investor

Founder Oscar Pedroso is a steadfast entrepreneur who built Thimble from the ground up, while working part-time as a restaurant server and math tutor. In just under 5 years, Thimble has helped over 1500 families and 300 public schools introduce kids who are often left out of curriculum models to education and career paths in robotics, coding, and engineering.

The campaign will help hire more people to accelerate kit and curriculum design to keep up with demand, expand inbound/outbound marketing, and build out a more robust sales team. With the government providing $56B in COVID relief funds to address learning loss, Thimble expects sales to schools to grow exponentially over the next several years.
