RNR Inc, a content distribution platform company (CEO Mr. Ray Seok), has officially partnered Filmbankmedia in South Korea to provide non-theatrical screening license.
Filmbankmedia is the leading international non-theatrical distributor that provides licenses of various film and TV content in partnership with Hollywood and independent film studios and distributors, providing permits of movie screenings in places other than homes or movie theaters – such as schools, churches, apartment community centers, public facilities like local town halls, corporate facilities, outdoor screenings, and etc. It is a joint venture among Warner Bros. Discovery, Sony Pictures and NT Digital Partners, and It’s headquarters are in the UK.
On 1st July 2023, Filmbankmedia announced that it has appointed RNR to be one of South Korea’s representative in providing licenses of various content in key markets such as community screenings in apartments, education and corporate companies.
Permission from the copyright holder must be obtained to screen content at places other than movie theaters or homes. To screen movies, one must obtain permission from the film distributors. If not, it violates the copyright law. RNR, by being able to provide non-theatrical screening license, made screening films legally far easier to obtain in the sectors of community screenings in apartments, schools/education, and corporate companies.
Mr. Seok said, “Through our company’s service in partnership with Filmbankmedia , customers will be able to easily access the non-theatrical screening of movies.” adding, “We are pleased to provide the screening permit services easily and conveniently.”
“We’re pleased and privileged to have found a strong and enterprising partner in RNR, Inc. and are confident that we will enable increased opportunities for films to be legally screened in public venues” said Filmbankmedia’s Business Development Manager Jane Lee.
Filmbankmedia has a library of thousands of films, ranging from major releases from Hollywood studios to independent films, classical films, animations, and documentaries.
RNR Inc. will become an official partner of Filmbankmedia for non-theatrical screening in South Korea, selling permits of movie screenings on behalf of the company. In particular, RNR will possess exclusive rights to providing permits of movie screenings to three types of places, including community centers such as apartment community centers, corporates and schools.
