Caylee Beyer has blazed a trail both at Notre Dame Academy and outside of school as a remarkable student and athlete. Now, freshman Caylee Beyer is transferring to top rated Northview High School in Duluth, Georgia, where she will continue her high school journey.
At just 14 years old, Beyer stands 5’8” and has made her mark in sports including volleyball, track, and basketball.
Beyer was the starting setter at Notre Dame and a setter for Atlanta Extreme Volleyball Club. She was named JV MVP and started in 3 Varsity games during the playoffs. Her team went on to become region champs and made it to the second round in the state competition. In her Freshman season, Beyer was ranked second in assists in AA with 315 and 7th in the GIAA.
Turning to her basketball career, Beyer is a solid forward demonstrating speed and a strong defensive presence. She splits her time between the Cagers and Notre Dame. The latter earned a regional championship title for the first time in school history. On the track, Beyer led her team in points. At the GIAA Regional Meet she placed 1st in high jump and the 4×400 and 2nd in the 4×1600 and 800m. At the GIAA State Track Meet, Beyer improved her time in the 800 by over 60 seconds from last season’s finish, earning her a PR and a school record.
“The week before regionals I sprained my ankle during a club volleyball game. I got in with our trainer and tried to get ready to run the next week. I remember crying because I was nervous I’d not do well in the 800. I was already nervous since I was the youngest person out there. My mom told me to just give it all I had and that she’d catch me if I fell at the finish line. I dug deep and placed 2nd. That was when I knew that if I wanted to do something I could; I just needed to believe in myself,” said Beyer.
Outside of her exemplary athletic record, Beyer is an A student. Beyer also plays the flute in symphonic band and volunteers her time helping disadvantaged youth.
Her peers and mentors note Beyer’s leadership and determination to succeed.
“I will miss Caylee so much this basketball season! Not only has her dribbling and shooting improved but so has her defense and leadership within the team. Anyone can tell that her hard work this summer has really paid off! I am sad to see her go, but cannot wait to see all the amazing things she brings to Northview,” said teammate Cara Amadi.
Former Notre Dame Academy Head Track Coach Christina Rodriguez said, “Caylee is an athlete that you can put in any position and know that she will succeed. We saw a gap last track season so took two weeks to teach Caylee to high jump; she went on to win Regionals two weeks later. She pushes herself more than any coach could because she loves what she does. She will be missed but I’m excited to see how she handles new challenges on a larger stage.”
According to Coach Shana Herman, “Young, hungry, and intentional… Caylee has a bright future ahead of her, and can easily be groomed into an elite high-performance athlete.”
All eyes will undoubtedly be on Beyer as she makes her start at Northview High School.
