With more than four decades of experience in the industry, Dr. Kenrick Ice McDonald has certainly proven himself as an expert in his field.  As a dynamic, results driven leader, Dr. Kenrick made history in 2014 when he was inaugurated as the first African-American National President in the 115-year history of the Society of American Magicians. History repeated itself in 2018 when he was inducted into the exclusive Magic Hall of Fame. He is a two-time recipient of Entertainer of the Year, is listed in 2020 as one of the most-influential magicians of the decade, and is a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians’ Order of Merlin.  Dr. Kenrick has performed, spoke, and consulted for hundreds of thousands of people in 3 Continents, 9 Countries, 43 States, 5 Provinces and 3 Territories. 

Dr. Kenrick’s areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, internationally-known magician, lecturer, filmmaker, writer, presenter, life coach and inspirational champion.

Before embarking on his career path, Kenrick, at 10-years old, was given a used magic kit from a second-hand store that was incomplete with missing pieces. That magic kit was the key to revealing a passion and natural talent that would later become a life-long career, which would transform Kenrick into “ICE McDonald.”  He graduated from San Diego High School in 1978 and attended San Diego City College.

In 1984, Kenrick moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in magic, where he founded the entertainment company Ice Storm Entertainment Group in 1993. Kenrick has also earned his “Doctorate in the Art of Magic”.

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Kenrick has received many awards and accolades and has been recognized worldwide for his accomplishments. This year he will be considered for a feature in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. He will be honored at IAOTP’s annual awards gala at the Opryland in Nashville next December for his selection as Top Magician of the Year. 

In addition to his successful career, Dr. Kenrick has been featured on the top-rated program on NPR with host Steve Inskeep, Masters of Illusion (series on FOX TV), Masters of Illusion International (France) and the documentary, The Art and Soul of Magic – The Story of America’s Black Magician. Dr. Kenrick was also featured on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Roland Martin’s News One Now. In addition to his appearances on several networks, he has articles in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times and many other publications. Dr. Kenrick has graced the cover of numerous national and international magic magazines on multiple occasions each.

Looking back, Dr. McDonald attributes his success to his perseverance and his incredible work ethic and dedication to his illustrious profession. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Paris, and three kids. In the future, he hopes to inspire and influence those getting into the field.
