At age 14, witnessing his mom getting dragged down by their 80-pound Golden retriever during their regular weekend hike and fracturing two fingers felt to him like a pretty traumatic event. Later that week, recalling the experience and feeling like a helpless bystander unable to intervene, Madav Genchev, a Bellarmine College Prep high school student in San Jose, California, devised an idea to design a product that uses the laws of physics.
Only a month or so later, he had the blueprints of a small but effective contraption that followed a few formulas he’d learned in class: Torque = force * distance. This would prevent such casualties in the future, not only for his mom but also for anyone who has the challenge of walking a big dog. Not just walk a dog but walk multiple dogs and do it hands-free.
Shortly after came the logo and the name Puppibles, all designed on the value-driven idea behind the startup to support new pet owners in their journey.
